Dunnville Agricultural Society Annual General Meeting

2018 Fair info: The 24th annual Dunnville Agricultural Fair will  be returning to the Dunnville Lions Park. This year the fair will open on Saturday August 18th 9 am to 10 pm and Sunday August 19th 10 am to 5 pm.

2018 President’s Message

I am excited to announce that the 24th Annual Dunnville Agricultural Fair, with the ongoing support of Haldimand County, will be held at the Lions Park in Dunnville on Saturday, August 18th and Sunday August 19th.

This year we are ‘Returning to our Roots’ and are holding the fair at Lions Park, as we used to do in years past. We are taking this as an opportunity to concentrate on what we do best, celebrating agriculture in our community.

The fair will start at 9:00 am. on Saturday with our miniature horse show. We are proud to have one of the largest miniature horse shows in southern Ontario, it is not to be missed.

There will be lots of things to see and do: exhibits in the Home-craft division, Future Farmers Olympics, Baby Show, Pet Show, Open miniature horse show, Sheep Show and a Sanctioned Goat Show. Returning for the 2nd year is a Rabbit Show put on by the Haldimand & Niagara 4-H members. We continue to plan for our children’s entertainment, musical entertainment as well as a bevy of food trucks and vendors.

We are changing to less paper and a more electronic world so check us out on the web and Facebook. I am always thankful and grateful to the Haldimand County Grant program and to all of our partners, sponsors, donors, local businesses, exhibitors and community groups that support us throughout the year and for the dedication and hard work of all of the volunteers and the Board of Directors. This is my first term as President and the support given to me personally by the community and the Board is humbling and I am grateful for it.

I would like to acknowledge the contribution of Arthur Gill to our fair over the years. Arthur was a wealth of knowledge who worked tirelessly to make our fair the best it could be. We lost Arthur suddenly in December and that loss is felt every day.

We do need your support whether it is financial or volunteering. Or, just come to the fair so we can help educate you about agriculture and enjoy what we have to offer.

I invite everyone to come and have a great time at the Dunnville Fair!

DeirDre McKay, President   Dunnville Agricultural Society
